Affirmations
What are affirmations?

'the actions or process of affirming encouragement or support'

I introduced affirmations into my daily life very early on in my recovery process. I made a list of 10 things that I repeat to myself everyday, so that I can retrain my brain from thinking negatively into positivity!

Here they are :-

1:- I am not stupid
2:- I am not fat
3:- I can be organised
4:-I can be strong enough for the kids
5:-I forgive myself for our financial situation
6:- I will not be stressed
7:- Life will change
8:- I am in control
9:-I can keep the house tidy
10:-I am not a bad mum

All these things are negative thoughts that run around my head on a daily basis and I wanted to stop believing them and know that the real me was much stronger than my mental health was allowing me to be. I was holding these negative thoughts and living by them daily, which was holding me back from being the person that was truly inside.

Write your won list of affirmation today and start repeating them to yourself. I promise in time you will start to believe them and learn to love yourself. Your confidence will grow and you will be able to take another step on your recovery journey.
What is Meditation?

-
Meditation is a mind and body practice that has a long history of use for increasing calmness and physical relaxation, improving psychological balance, coping with illness, and enhancing overall health and well-being. Mind and body practices focus on the interactions among the brain, mind, body, and behaviour.

Meditation is my all time favourite way to relax, now there is so many ways to do this and after trying a few I basically adapted it to my own preference. When you think of meditation, the majority of people will think of knees crossed, clear calm room and soothing music. Well I have always been a little different so when I meditate, I sit on my nans ottoman, in front of a shelf, literally crammed to the gunnels with all my favourite items I have collected over the years, trinkets from holidays, things the kids have made me, pictures and collectibles. I don't close my eyes, I just sit quietly for as long I want to and I run my eyes over the different things, I smile and I dream of those moments when I got them, I dream of a happier life, a life where I am not worried or stressed or unhappy. I spend that time, just alone with me and my happy thoughts. If something negative starts to creep in then I push it away and focus really hard on something to make my mind think of a happier time.

Meditation can be whatever you want it to be, it can be led on the bed listening to music, it can be a read out meditation from youtube, or it can outside sat in the fresh air. Don't feel you have to follow society to make things how you want them. Adapt it to make it feel right!

Meditation is a way of refocusing your mind, allowing positive thoughts to overflow within your body and to be able to listen to your body, to know what you need to do to move on with your life. Your body is your temple and you need to make sure that you are looking after it as a number one priority, there is only so long you can go before you burn out. You need to be able to rest it, love it and reassure it.

Meditation will lead to be able to answer questions that are being supressed in the back of your mind, it gives you the time to think of past memories, they may be upsetting, but it allows you to forgive it and move on. We don't need to take all the baggage of our past with us for the rest our lives, what we need to do is understand and forgive it. We can't change the past but we can change and live a better future.
